"Heartsaver First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. First Aid course is designed to prepare individuals to become first rescuers. This course teaches how to deal with first aid basics (gloves, cuts and bleeding), assessment for life threating conditions (heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, sever bleeding, shock and stroke), the use of epi-pens and injury prevention.

The ACLS Provider Manual contains all of the information students need to know to successfully complete the ACLS Course. The ACLS Provider Manual is designed for use by a single user and as a student reference tool pre- and post-course. It is also used as a clinical reference. This manual includes the systematic approach to a cardiopulmonary emergency, effective team communication and the ACLS cases and algorithms. Topics covered include the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR; team dynamics and communication; systems of care; immediate post-cardiac arrest care; airway management; and related pharmacology. This manual also gives students access to a website containing additional information and reference materials to help them successfully complete the course.

The American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Online course provides high-quality training in first aid. This course equips individuals and workplaces with the confidence to respond effectively to medical emergencies until emergency responders arrive.
Heartsaver First Aid is designed meet job or regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA). The blended learning course format is a convenient way to learn at your own pace and schedule.
The Heartsaver First Aid course is designed for individuals with little or no medical background. It is ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies at work, home, or in the community.

Course Format:
Heartsaver First Aid Online is the required online course for the American Heart Association blended learning training.
The blended learning format allows students to complete the online course at their convenience, followed by a hands-on skills session (sold separately) with an American Heart Association Training Center Instructor.
Course Learning Objectives:
After successfully completing the first aid portion, students should be able to:
At the end of the Heartsaver First Aid Course, students will be able to:
• Discuss how universal precautions, personal protective equipment (PPE), and handwashing can protect against germs and disease
• List the priorities, roles, and responsibilities of first aid responders
• Describe the key steps in first aid
• Describe the steps to remove protective gloves
• Demonstrate the steps to respond to a first aid emergency
• Describe the assessment and first aid actions for the following life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke
• Describe how to use an epinephrine autoinjector
• Demonstrate how to control bleeding and apply direct pressure and a bandage
• Recognize elements of common illnesses and injuries
• Describe how to prevent repetitive stress injuries and overexertion
• Recognize signs of mental health crisis in the workplace
• Recognize the legal questions that apply to first aid rescuers
Note: Course objectives may vary depending on the specific topics taught.
Upon successful completion, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid Course Completion Card, valid for two years.
